Ru Huang is a Chinese soprano, vocal educator, arts leader, and music education innovator based in California. She currently serves as Lecturer of Voice at the University of California, Berkeley, where she teaches vocal performance and mentors emerging singers in both classical and contemporary styles. Her career spans professional performance, higher education, artistic leadership, and educational innovation, reflecting a commitment to expanding access to artistic excellence across cultures and generations.

As a performer, Huang has appeared with organizations including Opera San José, Stanford University, Aspen Music Festival, USC Thornton Opera, Lyric Theatre at Illinois, and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts. Her operatic and concert repertoire includes performances in *The Magic Flute*, *La Bohème*, *Le Nozze di Figaro*, and *The Turn of the Screw*, as well as soprano solo appearances in Mozart’s *Requiem*, Handel’s *Messiah*, and Stanford University’s Gospel Fest. Her artistic work encompasses opera, oratorio, recital performance, contemporary music, interdisciplinary collaborations, and cross-cultural artistic projects.

She serves as Vice President of the China Mainland Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), one of the world's leading professional organizations dedicated to vocal pedagogy and singer development. In this role, she contributes to organizational growth, marketing strategy, professional development initiatives, and community engagement efforts that support voice teachers and singers across the region. She is the creator of VocalNote AI, an AI-assisted lesson documentation platform for music educators, as well as Vocal Workout, a digital vocal training platform, and Rep Generator, a repertoire recommendation tool for singers and voice teachers. These projects reflect her ongoing efforts to bridge the worlds of music, education, and technology while expanding access to high-quality learning experiences.

Huang holds a Master of Music in Vocal Arts and Opera Performance from the USC Thornton School of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
